Bran Date Bar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup sifted flour
1/3-teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups sugar
1-cup bran
1 1/2 cups chopped dates
1 cup chopped walnut meats
4 eggs, yolks and whites beaten separately
1/4-cup milk
1-teaspoon vanilla or almond extract

Instructions:

Beat egg yolks, beat in sugar. Add sifted dry mixture alternately with milk. Add dates, nuts and lastly, beaten egg whites. Turn into shallow greased baking pan and bake in moderate oven. When bar cookies cool cut in strips and brush with powdered sugar. Click for more bar cookie recipes
