Fake Whipped Cream Icing
Ingredients For: Fake Whipped Cream Icing
1/4 cup all purpose white flour
1-cup water
1/8-teaspoon salt
3/4-cup sugar (regular white granulated)
6 tablespoons margarine
6 tablespoons white solid vegetable shortening
1-teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions For: Fake Whipped Cream Icing
Stir the flour and salt together in a saucepan. Add water little by little, blending until smooth and lump-free, until all water is added. Cook, stirring, until the mixture boils and is semi-clear, thick and smooth. Cool well in the refrigerator.
When cool, transfer to a mixing bowl, and add the sugar, margarine, shortening and vanilla. Mix well, then beat until light and fluffy. This recipe makes about 2 cups.
Another quick recipe is much lower in calories and completely fat free. It's delicious, and holds up quite well for two to three days if made correctly. This meringue-type frosting taken from a Betty Crocker recipe book.
